At their last meeting of the Economy & Environment Committee, town councillors decided to neither support nor oppose a planning application which would change the use of Unit 18 on the Vastre Industrial Estate from B1 (offices/research and development/light industry) to B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution).

In their consultation response, councillors decided to just 'note' the application and ask for further information on how the applicant, Mr Ramesh Dewan, intends to deal with the storage and disposal of trade waste, and the subsequent impact on the local environment.

The plans also include the creation of a 'permeable surface will be placed [on the area shaded yellow] to allow cars to be parked'. The property is approximately 508m2 and could generate between 2 and 6 new full time jobs.

The unit is currently vacant and is situated in an industrial area.

The Town Council is a statutory consultee and submits comments to Powys County Council's Planning Department and does not make the final decision. The final decision will be made by Powys County Council at either their Planning Committee or delegated to officers.

The application can be viewed online here and using reference '24/0356/FUL'. Comments can be submitted via the Planning Portal.
