This partnership aims to bring together a diverse range of organizations from the public, private, and voluntary sectors to collectively work towards common goals, creating lasting economic, social, and environmental benefits. The initiative is inspired by the Community Place Plan, a comprehensive framework developed by the community itself.

Over 50 organisations have already expressed their interest in joining the partnership, indicating the strong support and enthusiasm for the initiative.

To ensure a successful and well-informed feasibility assessment, the Town Council has sought professional advice from Chris Jones, a renowned expert in regeneration. Mr. Jones has conducted initial intensive background research and is eager to engage with all interested parties to discuss their ideas on how the town partnership should function.

Recognising the importance of inclusivity and equal participation, the Council invites organizations within the Newtown area, including those from the public, private, and voluntary sectors, to join the ongoing feasibility discussions and workshops.

While the proposed town partnership remains open to all interested parties, the council emphasizes that engagement at this feasibility stage is crucial. By actively involving organizations in the process, the council seeks to encourage their contribution towards building a brighter future for Newtown.

Town Council Clerk, Ed Humphreys stated,

“Establishing the feasibility of a partnership is vital before considering going further – and to do that with others. To that end your town council agrees that this work should be undertaken by an independent facilitator. Chris Jones Regeneration looks forward to speaking to potential partners in June to gauge their thoughts and idea on how a partnership would work for Newtown towards common goals for the benefit of the town as a whole”.

To participate in the next step and contribute to the establishment of the Newtown town partnership, interested organizations are encouraged to reach out to either Cllr Pete Lewington ([email protected]) or the Town Clerk Ed Humphreys ([email protected]).
