In accordance with the Section 1 of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meeting) Act 1960, meetings of the Town Council are open to the public to attend as observers except where excluded by by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.

The Committee is due to hear the monthly update of the Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity Project from Mayor, Cllr David Selby, which aims to improve High Street, Severn Square and other urban areas of Newtown.

This month’s update paper includes references to a possible consultation on a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to make High Street one way.

The draft minutes of the project state that:

“Consultation for the TRO to turn High Street into a one-way system is currently being prepared.”

“High Street designs to continue to be drafted with a final draft being tabled at the next meeting –designs to consider the possible one-way system.”

It is not known when the proposed changes are due to come into effect, or when the consultation might begin.
