£2.5m in investment projects in Newtown despite the coronavirus situation, the town’s Mayor has said.

£2.5m in investment projects in Newtown despite the coronavirus situation, the town’s Mayor has said.

Cllr David Selby told a full meeting of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on Monday 22nd February that despite the gloom of the situation, more than £2.5 million was being investment in projects.

He was referring news that construction on the Riverside Hub was underway, planned investment to High Street as part of the ‘Green Infrastructure Project’, other investment planned by Powys County Council at Gas Street Car Park, along with the development of flats at the former Robert Owen House site.

He added that plans were also in hand to improve Sarah Brisco House, the home of the town council at The Cross in Broad Street as part of the Sarah Brisco House Transformation Project, which is jointly managed by the Town Council and the Sarah Brisco Trust.
