
Half of people in Newtown have no religion

New Census 2021 data reveals that 50% of people in Newtown have no religion and just under half identify as Welsh.
New religious, ethnic status and national identity data from the Census 2021 has revealed that half of all residents in Newtown had no religious affiliation. This compares to the 41.1% of the 11,363 residents identifying as Christian, followed by Muslim at just 1.0%.
6.6% of residents did not answer the question.
National identity has revealed that 37.8% of residents identified as 'Welsh only' with 43.5% as both 'Welsh only' or 'Welsh and British', 24.8% as 'British only' and 18.6% as 'English only'.
On ethnic group, 96.6% of residents marked themselves as White (British, Welsh, Scottish, NI or English) with the second largest group as Asian at 1.1%.
