'Last chance saloon' for Newtown Wetherspoons bike thief

Francis Barr, labelled as an opportunistic thief has avoided going to prison after steaking a bike from outside the Black Boy in Newtown.

Francis Barr, 23, was already subject to a 12-month community order for stealing almost £800 from an elderly woman after using her bank card in December 2020.

He pleaded guilty to theft of a pedal cycle and admitted breaching his community order when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (June 28).
