A string of personal traumas led to an hour-long stand-off between a Newtown man and police earlier this month.

Dyfed Powys Police officers had been called out to an address in Newtown on September 1 to deal with Matthew Williams – who was described as drunk and trying to get into his partner’s home after he had attended a funeral.
