The latest figures from county council reveal that 35% of properties in Powys recieve a 25% council tax discount.

New figures released by Powys County Council reveal that there are 64,030 dwellings in Powys subject to Council Tax for the next financial year.

22,787 (35%) of these have a 25% council tax discount, usually for single occupancy and 144 have a 50% discount on their bill. 39,190 dwellings continue to pay the full rate of council tax chargeable on their properties and 1,909 pay a second home premium.

In addition to the 64,030 properties, a further 178 properties classified as Armed Forces accomodation and 1,972 properties which are exempt from Council Tax for various reasons.

The figures also show that the most common value band in Powys is Band C, with 12,715 dwellings, followed closely by Band E with 12,146 dwellings.

In Newtown, it was revealed that there are now 4381.76 dwellings, up 2.07% on the previous year.

On Tuesday 22nd November, Powys County Council Cabinet will consider the figures, ready for setting the rate of council tax in March 2023.
