Town Councillors have voted against a fireworks display to mark the upcoming coronation of King Charles in May.
Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town councillors were discussing additional activities to celebrate the upcoming coronation of King Charles at their recent meeting of the Council.
During the meeting, one councillor suggested a fireworks display, but the idea was quickly voted down due to concerns over the environmental impact and potential harm to wildlife.
Instead, councillors were keen to support an alternative, environmentally friendly light or laser show. They believe that a light or laser show would be a more appropriate and sustainable way to celebrate the coronation, which is due to take place on September 6th, 2023.
The council has referred the suggestions to committees for further discussion, and councillors hope to come up with a final plan in the coming weeks.
