The town council is set to examine plans for siting of two holiday let cabins and all associated works at it's next Economy & Environment Committee meeting.

The meeting, scheduled for 7th November 2022 at 6:30pm will examine plans submitted by Mr & Mrs L E Stoker to site two holiday let cabins at Land At Puppy Plus Dog Training Site Middle Scafell Milford Road Newtown Powys SY16 6HQ.

The cabins, which will be made of light oak with a steel grey roof and be 9m by 4m will also feature nesting boxes. The site is currently used for canine training and according to the application form, will result in the creation of one part time job.

The design & access statement states:

"The applicants run a dog training enterprise at the site. They wish to augment income to their business by offering dog friendly holiday accommodation. They would also offer accommodation packages that include dog training."

Statutory applicants have so far raised no objections and the local ward councillor, County Councillor Peter Lewington (Newtown North - Conservative) has stated that he:

"I fully support this application for the positive benefits I can see it having on the local economy plus we should be supporting our local businesses"

The Town Council is a statutory consultee and submits comments to Powys County Council's Planning Department and does not make the final decision. The final decision will be made by Powys County Council at either their Planning Committee or delegated to officers.

The application can be viewed online here or by visiting the Powys Planning Portal and quoting reference '22/1539/FUL'. Comments can be submitted via the portal.
