Join the meeting on Microsoft Teams »Town councillors are set to discuss the repair and renovation of Newtown's most famous bridge.
At the next meeting of the Strategy and Corporate Projects Committee being held on Thursday 3rd November, town councillors are set to discuss their Place Plan project to investigate additional funding for the repair and renovtion of Long Bridge. The project would see the town council in an infulencing role and not contributing directly.
The bridge, which was built in 1827 and widened in 1857, is an iconic part of Newtown, linking the two sides of the town together. The cost is expected to come in at around £400,000, partly due to the nature of the scaffolding required.
Town councillors are expected to accept the officer recommendation to invite representatives from Powys County Council and host discussions around additional funding for the repair and renovation of the bridge.
