The annual precept request of £774,844 for Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council was approved last night at a meeting of the Council.
A precept request of £774,844 results in a 0% increase on the current financial year. It was reported in the meeting that this will actually decrease for tax payers by approximately £1 a year, leaving residents still paying £177.55 on an average Band D property.
As reported last week, the annual budget for Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is £818,847, meaning an deficit which will come from the Council’s reserves.
The Town Council precept is requested by the Town Council and collected by Powys County Council as part of the Council Tax settlement paid by residents.
