In a move aimed at supporting the growing number of cyclists in the area, a brand-new bike repair hub has been installed near Hafan Yr Afon in Newtown.

Thanks to the joint efforts of Open Newtown, PCC Active Travel, and Sustrans Cymru, this repair station will provide cyclists with a convenient facility to address minor repairs and adjustments on their journeys.

Situated just off the renowned National Cycle Network Route 81, the newly established cycle repair station is set to become a valuable asset for both local residents and visitors passing through the town. Equipped with an array of essential tools and tyre levers, the repair hub aims to ensure that cyclists can keep their bikes in top condition while exploring the picturesque landscapes surrounding Newtown.

David Allday, the Assistant Travel Officer for Powys County Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition.

"A new cycle repair station has been installed at the Cycle Hub in Newtown, just off the National Cycle Network Route 81. The repair station has a number of different tools and tyre levers to help make adjustments and minor repairs and there is an in-built pump to inflate tyres for wheelchairs as well as bicycles. "

The bike repair hub will not only cater to cyclists' needs but also extend its services to individuals using wheelchairs. This inclusive approach demonstrates a commitment to promoting active travel and ensuring that all members of the community can benefit from the newly established infrastructure.

Cyclists can now rely on the repair station to address a range of common issues encountered on the road, such as flat tires, loose chains, or saddle adjustments. By providing access to the necessary tools and a convenient pump, the hub aims to empower cyclists to tackle these challenges without disrupting their journeys or resorting to professional assistance for minor repairs.

As the popularity of cycling continues to soar, initiatives like the bike repair hub play a crucial role in supporting cyclists and encouraging more individuals to embrace two-wheeled transportation. With the addition of this new facility, Newtown has taken a significant stride towards becoming an even more cyclist-friendly town, further solidifying its position as a prominent hub on the National Cycle Network.
