Powys County Council has announced a three-week consultation period to develop a new Arts Strategy for Powys.

The council's Arts Service currently supports various independent arts organisations in delivering arts provision across Powys, including theatre, dance, music, visual and digital arts, performing arts festivals and crafts.

The council has commissioned Richie Turner Associates to undertake a review of current arts service provision in Powys, and work with council staff, Powys venues, the wider arts sector, and their communities to co-develop a new arts strategy and delivery plan.

The consultation period is open to the public and will run for three weeks. Interested parties can attend one of the four consultation meetings scheduled in Brecon, Newtown, and Rhayader, or complete the online survey available at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PowysArtsStrategy. The closing date for the survey is 2 May 2023.

Cllr James Gibson-Watt, Leader of the Council, said:

"I encourage everyone to get involved with this process to have your say on what the new arts strategy could include, whether you are directly involved in the arts or not. I am looking forward to seeing this strategy develop following this consultation and how it will shape the future of the arts here in Powys."

Further information about this project, including accessible formats, and registration for the events, is available at https://richieturnerassociates.com/powys-arts-strategy/.
