Concerns have been raised about a Newtown man's chaotic lifestyle after he failed to comply with the conditions of his parole.

As reported in the Powys County Times, Stafford Jones, 29, appeared before Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (January 30) where he admitted to testing positive for cocaine on two occasions in October and December. Additionally, he failed to attend an appointment with his probation officer two days after Christmas.

Probation officer Joseph Long informed the court that Jones had been receiving support from the service "for a very long time" and that the requirements of his parole had been thoroughly explained to him upon his release from prison.

The magistrates decided to go along with the probation officer's recommendation to hand Jones, of Llanidloes Road, Newtown, a £60 fine and £65 costs.
