Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council have taken a significant step towards addressing climate change and biodiversity by seeking 'Bee Friendly' status for the community.

This move comes as part of the town's Place Plan, which highlights the community's strong support for climate change and biodiversity education projects. To achieve this status, the town council is inviting individuals and organizations from the public, private, or voluntary sectors to help prepare an application.

The aim is to find partners who are willing to actively contribute to the journey towards 'Bee Friendly' status in Newtown.

Leading the initiative is Councillor Richard Edwards, who recently presented the criteria to the council's Strategy and Corporate Projects Committee. He emphasized the importance of monitoring and reporting work, as well as ongoing efforts to achieve and maintain the 'Bee Friendly' status.

The committee has now resolved to seek partners and funding to support this crucial environmental project. The initiative offers an excellent opportunity for local businesses to play an active role in tackling climate change and protecting biodiversity.

Various opportunities for creating Bee Friendly planting areas have been highlighted, including locations such as St Mary's Church, Sycamore Drive, the Gravel Carpark flowerbeds, and potential collaborations with local groups interested in biodiversity.
