Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council has expressed its deepest gratitude to the various organizations and individuals who showed immense support during the recently concluded Remembrance Weekend.
In a statement, the Town Council extended it's heartfelt appreciation to all those who participated, either in person or virtually, to pay their respects during the solemn occasion on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
During Remembrance Sunday, the Council welcomed the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Powys, Mr Tony Evans. Mr Evans laid a wreath on behalf of HM The King.

Mayor, Cllr John Byrne, who welcomed participants and observers said:
“These commemorations mark a coming together of community in which we remember, as one, all those who have fallen carrying out their duty and give thanks to those still serve today. To them I say, on your behalf, an enormous 'Diolch / Thank You', but with added poignancy of war and conflict in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere, and acknowledge your continuing welcome here in Newtown to those in need of shelter.”
“It's heart-warming to see so many of all ages come together in common purpose and community spirit, and show what can be done through collaboration, and mutual respect.”
A Council spokesperson also said:
"On behalf of the community, your town council is committed to carrying forward this tradition and with the other organisers we will listen, reflect, and carefully consider all feedback received to enhance and refine next year's event, ensuring it continues to be a deeply meaningful and inclusive occasion."
"The Council wishes to express sincere appreciation to all who were involved in organising, volunteering, and participating in making this event a heartfelt tribute to those who have served and sacrificed."
