Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn have announced that yet more damage has been done to St Mary's Church, with significant damage to the front door of the Pryce family mausoleum.

Announcing the damage on social media, the Town Counci said that the front door of the mausoleum has been significantly damaged and had to be removed for repairs. They added that the incident has been reported to Dyfed Powys Police, along with the available CCTV footage, for a investigation.

In a statement they said:

"The Town Council is deeply saddened by this act of vandalism, which not only damages a historic structure but also undermines the respect and appreciation for our local heritage. We remain committed to working with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation takes place, and we encourage anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist the police in their efforts."

"Preserving our town's rich history and cultural landmarks is a shared responsibility, and we call upon the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities near historical sites. Together, we can protect and cherish the treasures that make Newtown and Llanllwchaiairn such a special place to live."

Local authorities, including Dyfed Powys Police, have been notified and provided with available CCTV footage to aid in their investigation.

Acts of vandalism against historical sites not only cause material damage but also disrupt the sense of identity and pride within a community. The Pryce family mausoleum, with its historical significance, holds a special place in the hearts of local residents, and this incident has shaken the community's trust.

Local residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
