Powys County Council has announced plans for a major investment in housing, with more than £170m set to be spent on building new council homes and improving existing properties over the next five years.
The council's latest "At Home in Powys - Housing Business Plan" outlines the ambitious programme, which includes building over 330 new council homes by 2028-29 as part of a £104m investment package.
Additionally, more than £35m will be spent on enhancing current council homes to meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
Various initiatives are included in the plan, such as the Compliance One Hundred programme, which aims to ensure all council homes meet legislative requirements.
The Green Powys initiative will focus on increasing fuel efficiency, reducing fuel poverty, and addressing climate change, while the Fit for Life programme will make homes more suitable for older residents and those with health-related needs.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, highlighted the importance of the plan in addressing the housing emergency and supporting a greener future for the community.
"This plan will help build a stronger, fairer, greener future for Powys," said Cllr Dorrance.
"The investment in council homes will not only improve living conditions for tenants but also contribute to our efforts in tackling climate change and fuel poverty."
The Housing Business Plan will be presented to the Cabinet on Tuesday, 19 March, and if approved, work is expected to commence immediately to start delivering on these vital projects for the benefit of Powys residents.
