The Audit Wales report, published on May 15, identified issues with the council's processing of planning applications and approach to enforcement of breaches of planning legislation.

In response, the council has created two roles dedicated to supporting enforcement.

A council spokesman said:

“The council has recently established two enforcement planner positions which will be dedicated to supporting its planning enforcement service across the Powys local planning authority area.”

Audit Wales' report contained recommendations that the council is expected to address within the next year.

In the past, the council had separate officers focussed on processing applications or enforcing breaches, but restructuring over the past decade saw the roles merged.
