A man has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for a vicious attack on a woman in Newtown.

Mark Caffrey, 57, was found guilty of punching Susan Taylor 38 times in the face, leaving her with serious injuries and fearing for her life.

The assault took place outside Caffrey's residence on Lon Glanyrafon on April 12, and the entire incident was captured on his doorbell camera.

Swansea Crown Court also learned that Caffrey had a significant criminal record, with 19 convictions for 55 offenses, including three for actual bodily harm, resulting in a 12-month sentence in 1995.

The judge imposed a 10-year restraining order along with the 20-month prison sentence.
