New figures from Powys County Council reveal that the number of potholes repaired in Newtown has increased by 286% from 2022 to 2023.
According to figures provided by Powys County Council, responding to a Freedom of Information request from All About Newtown, the number of potholes repaired in Newtown during 2022/2023 was 15. In 2023/2024, this figure has increased to 58 potholes repaired.
This is in a stark contrast to the amount of potholes actually reported to the County Council - with only 11 reported during 2022/23 and 16 reported during 2023/24.

Of the 58 potholes repaired in 2023/24, 43 were identified and repaired through the Council's formal road inspections. 11 of the 15 repaired in 2022/23 were identified through the same inspection regime.
Unfortuantly the cost of repairing these potholes was unable to be determined as "repairs of potholes often form part of wider repairs or other work" and it is impossible to "disaggregate wage costs from wider duties".
