Newtown residents seeking rewarding job opportunities in the care and support sector are encouraged to attend a recruitment open day hosted by Powys County Council on Wednesday, July 5.

The event aims to provide individuals with firsthand insights into the roles of care and support workers while showcasing the various employment benefits available.

The open day will take place at Hafan Yr Afon, welcoming visitors anytime between 10:00 am and 6:30 pm. Interested attendees can drop in without prior registration, allowing for a flexible and convenient experience. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the friendly team and gain valuable knowledge about working in the community to support individuals in maintaining their independence and fulfilling their daily needs.

In addition to gaining an understanding of the job's nature, attendees can also participate in interviews and receive conditional job offers on the spot if they find the role suitable. To expedite the recruitment process, it is advised to bring the following documents to the event: identification, a list of qualifications, a comprehensive work history, and referee details.

Even if visitors are not ready for an interview, they are encouraged to join the event for an informal chat to learn more about the role and the learning and development opportunities available. Moreover, the open day accommodates individuals with childcare responsibilities, as children are welcome to accompany their parents to the event.

The Reablement Care and Support Worker position offers numerous benefits beyond the satisfaction of making a difference in people's lives. Successful candidates can enjoy perks such as a free uniform, free Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, paid Social Care Wales Registration, comprehensive training at no cost, access to the QCF scheme, a competitive mileage allowance, opportunities for career advancement, provided personal protective equipment (PPE), and a thorough induction process. The role also boasts flexibility, allowing individuals to choose between full-time and part-time contracts, as well as a condensed rota option, which grants more days off to accommodate personal and family needs.

The remuneration package for Reablement Care and Support Workers ranges from £22,369 to £23,194 per annum, pro rata, ensuring a competitive salary for those who choose to pursue this fulfilling career path.

For further inquiries or to gather more information about the open day, interested individuals can contact James Stuart, the Operational Manager Registered Services (North) Adult Services Unit, at 01938 551077 or via email at [email protected].

The recruitment open day will also feature representatives from Powys Teaching Health Board, who will be available to discuss the flexible roles available within the hospital and community settings throughout Powys.  Additionally, attendees can take the opportunity to meet colleagues from the Health and Care Academy and explore the learning and development opportunities offered in the healthcare sector.
