The works aim to renew a set of train tracks near the village of Cemmaes, between Machynlleth and Llanbrynmair.

The project, carried out by Network Rail and its contractor Colas Rail, will take place over a number of weekends, starting from Saturday, January 6. The planned work on the tracks is expected to improve the reliability of the railway.

It is scheduled to take place on the following days: January 6 to 9, January 13 to 15, January 20 to 22, and February 16 to 19.

Network Rail Wales and Borders route director, Nick Millington, stressed the significance of the work, stating that it is vital to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the railway.

To minimize disruption to travel along the Cambrian Line, Network Rail has spread out the work over several weekends; however, they still urge rail users to check before they travel. Additionally, passengers should be aware that replacement bus services may be busier than usual.

Transport for Wales will be running replacement bus services between Newtown and Aberystwyth while the work is being carried out.

Mr Millington expressed his gratitude to passengers for their patience during the maintenance period, and encouraged them to plan their journey in advance.
