A woman has sustained facial injuries and broken fingers during what appears to be a robbery near Newtown Library earlier this week.

As reported by the Powys County Times, the incident took place on Park Street in Newtown at approximately 3:05 pm on Wednesday, October 4, prompting Dyfed-Powys Police to launch an investigation.

Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection with the incident on suspicion of robbery, assault, and assaulting a police officer. She currently remains in police custody.

A spokesperson for the force stated:

"Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of an assault in Park Street, Newtown, at around 3.05pm on Wednesday, October 4. A woman sustained facial injuries and broken fingers during the incident, and was treated at the hospital."

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event or has any relevant information to come forward and contact the police. Those providing information are asked to quote reference number 23000965120.
