Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council are set to hold a special meeting to confer the title of Honorary Freeman of Newtown on Rory Evans for his outstanding service to the town.

Town Councillors are due to meet on Monday 27th February 2023 in a special meeting to decide to award the title of 'Honorary Freeman' to Rory Evans.

Mr Evans, who is well known in Newtown for his ghost stories and his fundraising efforts is set to become the second person to ever be awarded the title.

As we reported back in January, the nomination for Mr Evans was held in confidential session and only 12 living persons can hold the title and two thirds of town councillors must vote in favour of awarding the title.
