The Town Council, who is responsible for the upkeep of the clock and it's mechanisms, but not the clock tower, revealed the change in a recent social media post.

According to the Council, the upgrade gives the clock enhanced visibility, as the LED technology is much brighter than the traditional method of lighting the faces and LED lights also have a longer lifespan compared to traditional options.

The upgrade also brings sustanbility as LED lights are renowned for their energy efficiency and consume less electricty while providing brigher illumination.
